Surgical Training in Africa Network

Supporting surgical development in Africa

Welcome to the Surgical Training in Africa Network (STAN) website. Here you can find information about surgical training in Africa, details of STAN projects; past and present, useful contacts, a diary of events, details of relevant organisations and links related to STAN.

What is the Surgical Training in Africa Network?

STAN is a collection of initiatives and projects uniting several international surgical colleges including the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd). Many of these initiatives have been pioneered from within the RCSEd. Projects such as 'Training the Trainer in Africa' and 'Interburns' were initiated by individuals, others like the eLogbook are evolving along the way. STAN provides support, guidance and evaluation for these Africa-centred initiatives.

African Diary
African Diary: events and planning >>

The African Diary is a resource for any teams organising events relating to surgery and healthcare development in Africa. Whether you are a visitor to Africa or a visitor from Africa, knowing a little about other visits and events in your area can make a big difference to your project.

Browse the Diary for entries that may be relevant to work you have done, are doing or will do in the future. If you want to contact the organisers for more information, you can do so via the website.

You can register your own events, even if you are only in the very early stages of planning. The more entries in the diary, the more useful it is!
